Educação e formação de adultos em prisões portuguesas

Abstract

Terão as prisões por finalidade apenas punir para castigar e dissuadir ou disporão as prisões de recursos para sustentar processos de formação e (re)educação pessoal e social para todos e cada um visando a sua inclusão na sociedade? Pretende-se com este trabalho, por um lado, contribuir para a compreensão da relação da educação nas prisões com a inclusão/exclusão social e, pelo outro, estudar a aplicação das orientações internacionais sobre a educação e formação em ambiente prisional, nomeadamente se são aqui analisadas as necessidades básicas da aprendizagem e se são propostas modalidades educativas de segunda oportunidade, segundo o quadro conceptual e legal subjacente à educação nas prisões portuguesas desde 1979.

Is punishment and dissuade the only aim of prisons or they possess sufficient resources to sustain personal and social (re)-education and subsequent reintegration into society? The aim of this research is contribute to understanding the relationship of education in prisons with the social inclusion/exclusion and study the applicability of international guidelines on education in the prison environment, namely if they are analyzed the basic needs of learning and educational methods and if educational alternatives are proposed. Finally, it tries to redo the conceptual framework underlying the legal education in Portuguese prisons from 1979.
