Crianças de origem africana na cidade - de turistas a protagonistas

Abstract

O presente trabalho resulta de um Projeto em que tentámos explorar o possível contributo do animador sóciocultural na reconstrução das identidades sociais dos grupos minoritários, neste caso de um grupo de crianças de origem africana, na sua qualidade de cidadãs. O projeto foi desenvolvido em parceria com um grupo de 7 crianças, com idades compreendidas entre os 9 e os 13 anos, residentes em Aveiro, uma Cidade que se apresenta externamente como destino turístico e que tenciona organizar-se internamente como Cidade Amiga das Crianças. Para compreender como este grupo minoritário sentia a sua condição de cidadãos, realizámos 16 encontros, em que recorremos a técnicas participativas de Animação Sociocultural para desenvolver um percurso com características da investigação-ação participativa. Partimos da identificação dos espaços da Cidade que as crianças conheciam e usufruíam, auscultámos a sua opinião sobre os espaços que são apresentados aos visitantes como património natural, cultural e construído da sua cidade e elaborámos com elas um roteiro turístico destinado a outras crianças visitantes da cidade. Ao assumir como preocupações teóricas de partida a discussão sobre a condição social da infância e a cidadania das crianças, tivemos que criar condições especiais de simetria no diálogo com as crianças. Estas foram as circunstâncias que tornaram possível dar visibilidade e voz à sua condição de sujeito com direitos e atores sociais cuja leitura da realidade social e competências de participação social merecem ser tomadas em conta na reconstrução das Cidades que se pretendem Amigas das Crianças.

The present work results from a Project where we tried to explore the possible contribution of the Sociocultural Entertainer in the reconstruction of the social identities of minority groups, in this case a group of children of African origin, in their quality as citizens. The project was developed in partnership with a group of 7 children, ages between 9 and 13, with residence in Aveiro, a city that is presented externally as a touristic destiny and that intends to organize itself internally as a Children Friendly City. To understand as this minor group felt its condition as citizens, we had 16 meetings, where we resorted to participatory activities of Sociocultural Entertainment to develop a course with characteristics of participative action-research. We started from the identification of the spaces of the City that the children knew and enjoyed, we heard their opinion about the spaces that are presented to the visitors as natural, cultural heritage and constructed about their city. We also prepared a tourist guide intended for other children that visit the city. By taking as start theoretical concerns the discussion about the social condition of childhood and citizenship of the children, we had to create special conditions of symmetry in the dialogue with them. These were the circumstances that became possible to give visibility and voice to their condition of subjects with rights and of social actors whose reading of social reality and skills of social participation must be regarded in the construction of the Cities that are intended as Children Friendly.
