Abstract: Relational database management systems (RDBMS) and the programming languages have distinct points of view on data and applications. The two points of view are not well integrated, although each one has its own strengths and weaknesses. Stored procedures are one of the most important components of any RDBMS. Their integration with user applications require a huge allocation of resources for the development and maintenance phases. In order to bridge the gap between stored procedures and programming language, some approaches have been proposed. In this paper an assessment is made for two of the proposed object-oriented approaches for wrapping RDBMS stored procedures.
