Abstract: A broad band emission which occurs above 70 K in Mn doped n-type GaP samples with a maximum at 1.64 eV, which shifts towards higher energies upon increasing temperature is shown to be due to emission from two thermalizing levels 78 meV apart. The origin of the band and its relationship with Mn2+ is discussed and compared with centres of similar characteristics in GaP
