demonstrando a mundividência desta área disciplinar e profissional. A Climar
social, soberania nacional e europeia. The Meeting of Industry with Design presented here, gathered in 2022 at the University Keywords of Aveiro, industrialists and academics for a morning of sharing good practices and challenges in the area of Design. The industries invited, with predominant activity in the region of Aveiro, have contributed to the qualification of the industrial product through Design in different sectors of activity, thus demonstrating the range of this disciplinary / professional area. Climar Lighting through light design; Niepoort wines in the visual communication of an identity which is constantly being updated; the ceramic products from Grestel for the technological reinvention of forming and seaming processes (stoneware) that opened up new possibilities for design; and the urban furniture equipment from Larus Design, a company that demonstrated the consolidated results of a vertical design management strategy in the organisation, which is a pioneer in Portugal. As a framework for the University - Industry collaboration, through cooperation projects, the Rectory of the University of Aveiro presented data that show an increase in patent registration, shared between scientific areas/departments and industry, and the ID+ Research Institute in Design, Media and Culture, demonstrated from research results, an economic return on investment in research and Design, for an economy based on knowledge and innovation. This article focuses on the report of the discussion generated in the Meeting of Industry with Design, and briefly presents the set of actions coordinated by the research group MADE.PT Critical Design Lab for Growth and Prosperity at the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the creation of the scientific area of Design and Design teaching at the University of Aveiro (1996/1997). Having this event been unanimously evaluated as fundamental and of great interest, it is with the ambition of seeing this format of dialogue continuing and increasingly widespread, demonstrating the value of Design in the economy, that we find the relevance of this article. In conclusion, we recognize the imperative of a joint effort of collaboration between University and Industry to guarantee national and European sovereignty.Industry to guarantee national and European sovereignty. |
