Os contistas da Horta: os primeiros passos do conto açoriano

Abstract

O objectivo deste estudo é proceder a uma reflexão sobre algumas narrativas, sobretudo contos, de três escritores açorianos do final do séc. XIX e primeiras décadas do séc. XX – Nunes da Rosa, Florêncio Terra e Rodrigo Guerra –, de modo a caracterizar o início do percurso do conto de temática açoriana, marcado já por uma crescente aproximação à terra em que se inscreve.

Our purpose is to reflect upon the narratives, especially short stories, of three Azorean writers who lived during the second half of the nineteenth century and first decades of the twentieth century: Nunes da Rosa, Florêncio Terra and Rodrigo Guerra. We attempt to characterize the first steps of a particular type of narrative – the short story of Azorean subject –, which already shows, in this period, a more visible relation with the region it portrays.
