Design makes visible, the invisibility of the Genius Loci through the brand, which can be the visual representation of the inheritance or the ambition (political decision of strategic positioning of the territory, now subject to the competitive presuppositions of the global market). Starting from territorial and human geography, for an integrative proposal of local agents (University; Local Authorities and Industry) in the construction of the Brand, Design acts as a mediator and, by Design Management, is an instrument of support to decision making. The research in Design that is being tested here, - and which proposes to constitute a thesis in the specific field of Place Branding - presents the results of three reflections published in international scientific meetings, during the PhD (still ongoing). Framed within the european research and innovation goals and policies, and in particular the Design-based Policies for Sustainable Development of the Territory, this research aims to demonstrate the added value of verticalizing Design Management and position the discipline asa privileged mediator for the co-construction and co-management of the Place Branding. The demonstration of the potential of Design in the unilateral relationship with each axis, in bilateral relations and in of the three axes, gives consistency to the proposal of Design Model for the Territory. |
