O PmatE : uma ferramenta para a promoção da cultura científica

Abstract

Nos últimos anos têm sido frequentes as notícias sobre o fraco desempenho dos alunos portugueses, desde o 1º ciclo, na disciplina de matemática, identificado nos exames e referenciado em estudos internacionais. É neste sentido que se tende a alterar o ensino/aprendizagem de hoje, utilizando novas ferramentas e metodologia. Destas, a utilização das TIC em contexto escolar tem-se revelado de importância fundamental na aprendizagem e autoformação - vias importantes da emancipação humana. Na sociedade tecnológica dos dias de hoje é essencial que o cidadão tenha competências científicas. Mais do que no passado, o exercício da cidadania requer educação, participação cívica e política e níveis mínimos de recursos e de protecção social. Assim a educação, também na área da matemática, é um imperativo da própria cidadania. E é esta exigência de cidadania que conduz à prioridade da intervenção na melhoria da qualidade na educação tanto a que decorre em ambientes formais como aquela que tem lugar em ambientes não formais como os Centros Ciência Viva. A investigação indica que uma utilização pedagógica eficaz das TIC no ensino/aprendizagem articula formas de interacção significativa com o objecto de estudo com os suportes apropriados da informação disponível. Deste modo estimula-se a capacidade de pensar, de aprender a pensar e de pensar sobre o modo como se aprende.

ABSTRACT: In recent years the news have been frequent about the weak performance of the Portuguese pupils, since 1º cycle, in mathematics. This is identified in the examinations and referenced in international studies. It is in this direction that it is intended to modify the education/learning of today, using new tools and methodology. Of these, the use of the CIT in pertaining to school context has been shown to be very important in learning and self learning – Two important paths for the emancipation of the human being. In the technological society of the present it is essential that the citizen has scientific abilities. More than in the past, the exercise of the citizenship requires, education, civic participation, politics and minimum levels of resources and social protection. Thus the education in the area of the mathematics is an imperative for a proper citizenship. It is this requirement for a better citizenship that leads to the priority of an intervention for the improvement of the quality in education, either in formal environments or un-formal environments such has the Science Museums. The inquiry indicates that an efficient pedagogical use of the TIC in education/learning combines forms of significant interaction with the object of study and with the appropriate supports of the available information. In this way it is stimulated the capacity to think, to learn to think and to think about the way we learn.
