Louis Vierne: do estudo da narrativa musical à performance do seu legado para órgão

Abstract

O presente trabalho propõe-se divulgar a importância do compositor e organista francês Louis Vierne no desenvolvimento e difusão do órgão sinfónico e seu reportório. Através de uma contextualização histórica e reflexão sobre as suas obras de maior peso composicional e representatividade estilística, são apresentadas considerações fundamentais para a execução da obra de Vierne, em performance. Por fim, são utilizadas obras como objeto de estudo, na ótica do intérprete que as prepara para a performance.

The present work discusses the importance of the French composer and organist Louis Vierne and his invaluable role in the development and proliferation of the symphonic organ and its repertoire. In the first part of the work, Vierne’s organ compositions are briefly presented, within the context of their historical framework; their compositional trademarks are reviewed, and also the issue of the stylistic representativeness. Afterwards, some fundamental considerations are explored relative to the performance of Vierne’s organ pieces. Finally, in the last section of this work, a chosen subset of Vierne’s opus is object of study, from the perspective of the interpreter who prepares them for performance.
