Barreiras à inclusão no ensino superior: perceção dos estudantes com necessidades educativas especiais na Universidade de Aveiro

Abstract

O tema da equidade de acesso e inclusão escolar no Ensino Superior tem vindo a merecer maior destaque nos últimos anos, com um aumento do número de estudantes com Necessidades Educativas Especiais a frequentar este nível de ensino. Este estudo de caráter descritivo e exploratório tem como finalidade estudar a perceção dos estudantes com Necessidades Educativas Especiais, a frequentar a Universidade de Aveiro, sobre as barreiras à sua inclusão na vida escolar e académica, bem como formas de as ultrapassar. Através de um questionário, foram inquiridos os alunos com Necessidades Educativas Especiais que frequentavam a Universidade de Aveiro no ano letivo 2018-2019. Os resultados permitem traçar um perfil das barreiras identificadas, com maior saliência das barreiras metodológicas e atitudinais. Espera-se que estes resultados possam informar futuras intervenções no sentido de reduzir barreiras e facilitar o acesso equitativo e a vida académica na Universidade de Aveiro, podendo este estudo ser replicado noutras Instituições de Ensino Superior.

The issue of equity of access and school inclusion in Higher Education has deserved much attention in recent years with an increase in the number of students with Special Educational Needs attending Higher Education institutions, in recent years. This descriptive and exploratory study aims to study the perception of students with Special Educational Needs, attending the University of Aveiro, about the barriers to their inclusion in school and academic life, as well as the ways to overcome them. Through a questionnaire, students with Special Educational Needs who attended the University of Aveiro in the school year 2018-2019 were surveyed. The results allow us to draw a profile of the identified barriers, with greater salience of the methodological and attitudinal barriers. These results are expected to inform future interventions to reduce barriers and facilitate equitable access and academic life at the University of Aveiro. This study may be replicated in other Higher Education Institutions.
