Competências dos cuidadores informais familiares no autocuidado: Autoestima e suporte Social

Abstract

Desempenhar a tarefa de cuidador informal (CI) requer que o cuidador familiar possua não só aprendizagens relacionadas com a doença que cuida, mas também exige que este adquira novas competências de forma que possa sentir-‐se orientado e preparado para lidar com a doença e concomitantemente tenha a perceção da importância de cuidar de si próprio. Esta investigação identifica se os cuidadores possuem autoestima e suporte social. O presente estudo, de cariz qualitativo e paradigma interpretativo, foi realizado com 09 cuidadores informais familiares da USF de São João de Ovar (Portugal). A análise de conteúdo foi suportada com o apoio do software webQDA. Apesar dos problemas enfrentados pelos CI os resultados demonstram que os cuidadores revelam um bom nível de autoestima e suporte social em três diferentes dimensões: dos agregados familiares, da família de extensão e dos amigos e vizinhos.

This research identifies the need for self-­esteem and social support by caregivers. This study of qualitative and interpretative paradigm nature was carried out with 9 family informal caregivers of USF São João, Ovar, Portugal. Content analysis was supported with the assistance of webQDA software. Despite the problems faced by CI, the results demonstrate that caregivers show a good level of self-­esteem and social support in three different dimensions: the household, the extent of family and friends and neighbours.
