Abstract: | Actualmente, o homem vive em permanente stresse.
profissionais. Nowadays, people live in permanent stress. Its effects are so connected to the individual that is not strange to blame it for all the problems that arise. It is also a common knowledge that today work is one of the greatest causes of stress. Among the professions with greater stress, paramedical staff is practically at the top of the list, lacking regular supervision that will lead to reducing stress. The main objective of this dissertation was to identify stress inducing factors, as felt by emergency medicine professionals, as well as to research on the role played by supervision in what pertains to their personal and professional development. A study, at a national level, was performed, using a questionnaire that intended to identify the stress factors of individuals at their job, with their family and at the emergency service. A second study, of a practical nature, measuring individuals’ vital signs, intended to assess their stress level during their occupation at the emergency. The results obtained led to the conclusion that the individuals have high stress levels at their jobs, at the emergency and low levels with their families and also consider extremely important the negative impact stress has on their general well-being. In relation to the stress inducing situations, the individuals’ higher levels occur during the trip to the site, at the site and after their intervention. On the other hand, it was verified that doctors withhold better health than nurses. Finally, it was concluded that if someone’s overall health is bad, their stress level will be higher at their job, at the emergency and with their family. We consider this thesis shows, beyond doubt, the stress level of these professionals and that supervision should be considered an urgent necessity. As such, institutional conditions should be bred, as well as personal motivation stimulated, so that a supported supervision process may indicate ways to drastically reduce the stress levels of these professionals. |
