The implementation and certification of Quality Management Systems (QMS) has been being faced as of huge importance for the organizations. Actually, the increasing number of certified firms all over the world, according to different quality criteria, works as an evidence of that fact. The present dissertation aims to identify the changes occurring within the organizations during the certification process and to evaluate its impact on them, bearing in mind the employees’ involvement over the whole process of QMS’ implementation. The accomplishment of this investigation’s goals was mainly attained by conducting semi-structured interviews to nine Portuguese enterprises which are Inova-Ria’s associated companies and work within the ICT sector. Throughout the present study, it was possible to conclude that the companies face a few problems during the QMS’ implementation: low employee’s involvement, lack of knowledge and training on the certification, as well as situations of resistance to change. Notwithstanding those struggles, it was noticeable that QMS’ implementation has been being fruitful for all the organizations interviewed since it has been contributing to (i) their internal organization improvement; (ii) to an increment on customer’s satisfaction; (iii) to spread and strengthen the companies’ external image; and (iv) to a better involvement and interaction of all the employees within their workplace, bringing in the end a remarkable awareness from them on the importance of quality concerns. |
