Dinâmicas de leitura recreativa pelos alunos do ensino secundário

Abstract

A leitura é parte integrante da vida do indivíduo. Ler é o resultado de uma aprendizagem contínua que se inicia muito antes da aprendizagem dos caracteres de leitura, e que se vai aperfeiçoando à medida que se adquire a capacidade de descodificar as mensagens, de interpretar e compreender o seu conteúdo. A formação do indivíduo passa necessariamente pela leitura. É importante que os jovens se envolvam nas práticas de leitura, quer estas sejam de carácter obrigatório - a nível escolar - quer sejam de leitura por prazer. O gosto e o desejo de ler leva a uma leitura prazerosa no indivíduo que a pratica. Neste trabalho, estudo de caso, pretende-se averiguar se os alunos do ensino secundário têm hábitos de leitura, se leem com gosto e qual o tempo que despendem na leitura diária. A metodologia de trabalho foi a aplicação de um inquérito por questionário a todos os alunos da Escola Básica e Secundária de Sever do Vouga do ensino regular e a análise dos dados das requisições domiciliárias correspondentes aos anos escolares 2011-2012 e 2012-2013. Da análise dos resultados obtidos foi possível concluir que os alunos do ensino secundário leem menos do que os alunos que frequentam o ensino básico, que ocupam o seu tempo livre no computador na internet a divertirem-se ou a fazerem trabalhos escolares e a ver televisão. O tempo utilizado por estes alunos para a leitura de livros não escolares ou seja leitura recreativa é muito pouco, porquanto referem não terem tempo para o fazerem pois as exigências académicas não o permitem.

Reading makes part of one's life. It is the result of a continuous learning process that begins long before the learning of the reading character, and it goes on being improved as it acquires the ability to work out the messages, interpret and understand their content. The development of any individual involves necessarily reading. It is important that young people get involved in reading practices whether they are mandatory - at school – or just for pleasure. The taste and desire to read leads to a pleasant reading for the individual who does it. In this paper, case study, it is aimed to inquire whether the secondary school students have reading habits, if they enjoy reading and the daily time they devote to reading. The methodology of this work was based on the application of a questionnaire to all students who attend regular education in Primary and Secondary School of Sever do Vouga and the analysis of the domiciliary requests data corresponding to the school years 2011-2012 and 2012-2013. From the analysis of the results we can conclude that secondary school students read less than students attending primary school, spending their free time on the internet having fun or doing the homework or watching TV. The time devoted by these students to non-school books, i.e., to entertaining reading is very little as they refer they have no time to do so because of their academic requirements.
