The following work presents an investigation that may become a guiding reference to conservatory academics and other music schools students with similar pedagogical characteristics, from the 1st grade to the 8th grade, on the complementary teaching. This work will reflect important notions, in a clear simple and objective way, of physical and instrumental warm up, the most used muscles when we play an instrument, as well as the possible injuries that can occur if we don’t warm up properly. This work is not an encyclopedia source about this theme, but a basis of trustful and responsible info which fulfills the non-existence of a Portuguese guidebook on this matter, which an oboist normally needs and looks for during his academic path. Six conservatory students, from Guarda, Fátima and Maia, were the participants of this study. They included on their daily study, several physical and instrumental warm up exercises. The main goal was to know/learn if they had more resistance and if they felt more relaxed when playing after having warmed up. We also gathered to further analysis the opinion of oboists, about the importance of the warm up and the way it was done. The data collection was made through direct observation and a questionnaire to all the students. Its analysis allows us to conclude that the evolution was positive and that there was a significant improvement of all the students regarding their resistance and performance. |
