Tradução de textos sobre a obesidade e saúde

Abstract

O projeto consistiu na tradução do inglês para o português de dois artigos científicos relacionados com a temática da obesidade e da diabetes. Após este trabalho, procedeu-se à elaboração de um glossário bilingue contendo todos os termos técnicos e científicos presentes nestes dois artigos, de forma a facilitar a sua compreensão por parte do respetivo público-alvo. Neste projeto também se incluiu uma exposição teórica associada à Teoria Skopos tendo como objetivo relacionar os princípios defendidos por esta teoria com o trabalho de tradução realizado, tendo em conta a especificidade destes artigos e do respetivo público-alvo. No final, procedeu-se à elaboração de um relatório tendo como objetivo apresentar os exemplos mais relevantes dos desafios sentidos ao longo da tradução destes dois artigos: questões terminológicas, sintáticas e problemas na tradução de abreviaturas e de siglas, questões relativas a aspetos da cultura e da pragmática.

This project consisted of the translation of two scientific articles concerning obesity and diabetes, from English into Portuguese. After doing that, a bilingual glossary containing all the technical and scientific terms included in these two articles was drawn up, in order to make them understandable to their target audience. In this project, a theoretical analysis associated with the Skopos Theory was explored as a framework. This was done in order to relate the principles that are defended by this theory with the translation work that was carried out considering the specificity of these articles and their target audience. After concluding this task, a report was drawn up in order to present the more relevant examples of the translation problems that were found during the translating of these two articles: terminological and syntactical problems, problems related with the translation of abbreviations and of acronyms, cultural issues and translation problems of a pragmatic nature.
