The objective of thus thesis is the study, modeling and simulation of fiber Bragg grating, and their posterior testing in tuning systems for optical encoders and decoders. To achieve such goal, first we present a brief study of the Coupled Mode Theory, which supports the following theoretical analysis of Bragg gratings. Then, we proceed with the implementation and simulation of numerical methods for the calculation of the spectral response of the fiber grating, followed by the analysis of which method as the best commitment between precision and time spend for simulations. In this context, we have developed a simulator for spectral analysis, which include reflectivity, time delay and dispersion calculations, based on the physical parameters of the grating. We have also implemented an electronic system for turning optical filters, where the spectral response of fiber Bragg gratings were tested under strain and compression. |
