Tradução de artigos e elaboração de glossário em estudos clínicos

Abstract

A área dos Estudos Clínicos tem como um dos seus objetivos apresentar os novosconhecimentos que se vão desenvolvendo, não só ao nível da melhoria dosresultados, mas também das metodologias e dos procedimentos adotados.

Atualmente, a terminologia relativa a esta área está dispersa por diversas obras da temática da saúde em geral, e principalmente em Língua Inglesa, uma vez que atransmissão destes conhecimentos é feita, essencialmente, nessa língua.

Assim, a primeira parte deste projeto incide sobre a conceção de umglossário Português – Inglês (EUA) sobre três dos subtemas (Ensaios Clínicos, Economia da Saúde, Regulamentação) do tema maior que é os Estudos Clínicos.

Posteriormente, existiu o objetivo de aplicar este glossário na prática e analisarproblemas inerentes à tradução de artigos científicos. A segunda parte deste projetotem por objeto a tradução e respetiva análise crítica do tipo de texto em questão.Também se analisa a utilização de ferramentas de tradução neste contexto, emparticular a memória de tradução TRADOS.

Pretende‐se que este projeto contribua para melhorar a coerência e compreensão por todos, na interligaçãoão do discurso, neste domínio, em Português e em situações de confrontação temática entre a Língua Portuguesa e a Língua Inglesa, ou seja, pretende‐se contribuir para uma maior harmonização terminológica neste domínio.

One of the objectives of clinical studies is to present new knowledge that is being developed, not only with regard to the improvement of results, but also methodologies and procedures.

Currently, terminology in this field is scattered in several works of general health, mostly in the English Language, as the transmission of knowledge is this field is conducted mainly in this language, even in Portugal.

Therefore, the first part of this project aims to create a Portuguese – American English glossary in three of the subfields (Clinical Trials, Health Economics, and Regulation) of the major field of Clinical Studies.

Subsequently, the objective was to apply this glossary and analyze the problems concerning the translation of scientific articles. The second part of this project aims at translating and critically analyzing this type of text. The use of translation tools, especially the translation memory TRADOS, in this context is also analyzed.

This project aims to improve coherence and understanding in the discurse in the Portuguese Language and in situations of thematc confrontation between the Portuguese Language and English, i.e., to contribute to a greater terminology harmonization in this domain.
