Da criação à sua negação: a melancolia no contemporâneo

Abstract

A operação artística consiste em criar no vazio ou a partir do vazio, num abismo necessário. O que aqui se pretende demonstrar é que tudo faz parte de um processo que começa na tensão do criar ou não criar, na potência de que nos fala Agamben. Tudo tem início nesse vazio, nessa invisibilidade da potência, que urge comunicar. Mas essa comunicação pode revelar o inefável. Configura-se assim, a possibilidade de um trabalho sobre o processo criativo, bem como sobre a melancolia e a angústia desse mesmo processo, em que criar e não criar são permanentemente postos em causa. Permanecer na pura potência, revelar a impossibilidade de criar criando forma. Por um lado, a imagem prolonga a acção, por outro lado suspende toda e qualquer conclusão. Apenas o processo artístico continua, procura incessante de uma poética despojada da forma.

The artistic process operates with the sense of void or from that very idea of void. The aim of this report is to demonstrate that that sense pertains to a process arising from the tension between creating and not creating – closer to Agambenʼs idea of potentiality. Everything starts with an invisible potentiality, a void that exhorts communication. However, that exercise might reveal the very incapacity to communicate. Such scope not only defines an attempt to understand the creative process but also, the relevance of anguish and melancholia in the questioning of the dyad create/not-create. The continuous creation of new forms reveals the impossibility to encapsulate the creation act wholesomely. The images that one arrives to widen the action but they also withhold the chance for any definite conclusion. Only through the notion of artistic process one seems to be able to foster the idea of pure potentiality by endlessly seeking a poetics without the constraints of form.
