A WWW na aprendizagem da matemática no âmbito do estudo acompanhado

Abstract

Nos últimos anos, temos assistido a um desenvolvimento, cada vez mais acelerado, das Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação (TIC), o que tem provocado alterações profundas no nosso dia-a-dia e nas mais diversas áreas. No que diz respeito ao Sistema Educativo e, em especial, à Matemática, a inserção de tais ferramentas é vista por muitos investigadores como um potencial capaz de renovar a imagem que a sociedade tem em relação a esta área do saber, dado que permite inovar o ensino desta disciplina. Por outro lado, atendendo às finalidades da área curricular não disciplinar Estudo Acompanhado (EA), recentemente criada, e à forma como tem sido desenvolvida, julgou-se importante estabelecer parcerias entre a Matemática e a referida área. Da análise feita aos dados recolhidos, concluiu-se que a integração da WWW, nas actividades lectivas de Matemática e de EA, contribuiu para motivar os alunos para uma aprendizagem mais profunda, significativa e eficaz da matemática e para uma visão mais positiva e correcta destas áreas, promovendo o desenvolvimento de um vasto leque de competências por parte dos alunos, nomeadamente de pesquisa na Internet, em grupo, de formulação e resolução de tarefas envolvendo a proporcionalidade inversa e de comunicação (em) matemática.

Over the last few years we have been witnessing a more and more accelerated development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and this development has been provoking profound changes in our daily life in the most diverse areas. In what the Educational System is concerned, especially Mathematics, the insertion of such learning tools is seen by many investigators as a potential way of renewing the image society has about this area of knowledge, once they allow innovation in the teaching of this subject. On the other hand, having in mind the aims of the recently created curricular area of “Oriented Study” (“Estudo Acompanhado” (EA) — a curricular area in which students learn study skills with teacher’s help) and the form it has been developed, we thought important to establish a partnership between Mathematics and this area. From the analysis of the results, we concluded that the integration of the WWW in the teaching of Mathematics and in “Oriented Study” sessions, helped to motivate the students into a more profound, significant and effective learning of Mathematics and to a more positive and correct view on these areas, promoting the development of a vast diversity of aptitudes and skills by students, namely, internet search skills in group work; task formulation and resolution involving inverse proportionality and mathematical communication.
