Abstract: | A qualidade do ar no interior dos edifícios depende de vários factores físicos,
associados a doenças profissionais e acidentes
Nesse aspecto, a
Cladosporium, Penicillium e Botrytis. The quality of the air inside the houses depends on several physical, chemical and biological factors. The World Health Organization (WHO) refers that every years are worn-out about 4% of the gross national products, with costs directly associated with professional diseases and accidents. The fungi dispersed through the atmosphere are susceptible o provoking disease to the Man when they enter in contact with the skin and mucous membranes, or by direct contact or by inhalation. In Portugal, aerobiological studies are scarce and very few studies concerning of the atmospheric concentration and diversity of microorganisms that exist in the air of hospitals and other clinical have been carried out. Bearing in mind that the Decree-Law nº 79/2006 of 4 April regulates the levels of concentration of microorganisms, and thus it should be an important reference in evaluation the results. This work aimed to identify filamentous fungi isolated from indoor air, in two hospitals. The identification of fungal can be a difficult task it based exclusively on morphologic and cultural characters. In that respect, the application of molecular methods, especially those based on PCR, can represent a great help. RFLP of ITS rDNA is proposed as a useful tool for molecular identification of the most common species fungal of airborne. They are useful instruments for the increase of the knowledge of the pathological agents, as well as for the increment of the treatment capacity and prevention. The fungi contamination in health facilities has shown various infection caused by several species of Aspergillus, Cladosporium and Penicillium. Our study has identified an Aspergillus genus that may be involved in nosocomial infections, possibly related to the ventilation system, air filters, exhaust fans and movement of people in critical care units. Moreover, it can be said that the number of surgeries did not influence the amount of the number of fungi detected. Wile in hospital A occur opportunistic fungi contaminants of air and genus Rhodotorula (yeast). Hospital B presents particularly Aspergillus sp., Cladosporium sp. and Penicillium sp. which are mainly involved in the genesis of astha and allergic alveolitis and the genus Pichia (yeast). In both hospitals the species with the highest representation were Cladosporium, Penicillium and Botrytis. |
