Diagnóstico do conhecimento faunístico dos alunos do ensino básico

Abstract

A identificação do problema, conhecimento reduzido dos alunos do Ensino Básico sobre a diversidade da fauna regional, fundamentou a realização do presente estudo empírico, no âmbito do Ensino em Ciências Naturais. No enquadramento teórico deste trabalho definiram-se os seguintes objectivos: o diagnóstico do conhecimento efectivo dos alunos do Ensino Básico sobre a fauna regional; construção de uma proposta-projecto alternativa, baseada na perspectiva de Ensino por Pesquisa contextualizada na interface Ciência- -Tecnologia-Sociedade-Ambiente, para a resolução de situações-problema inseridas no quotidiano dos alunos; promoção do papel da Educação Ambiental na conservação/preservação e divulgação das terminologias regionais sobre a “biodiversidade” existente em Portugal e outros possíveis saberes locais tradicionais. Os resultados obtidos com o inquérito por questionário permitiram diagnosticar o conhecimento dos alunos do Ensino Básico sobre a fauna local e as principais estratégias metodológicas normalmente utilizadas pelos professores de Ciências Naturais na sala-de-aula, aquando a sua abordagem. As actividades, que constaram na proposta-projecto, foram ponderadas e organizadas metodicamente, tendo em consideração os dados empíricos recolhidos pelo inquérito por questionário, instrumento de recolha de dados utilizado junto da população-alvo de alunos pertencentes ao Ensino Básico. Assim, a proposta-projecto caracterizou-se pela valorização, não só dos processos conceptuais e processuais, mas também do desenvolvimento de atitudes e valores, ao longo da possível resolução de situações problemáticas que possam surgir interligadas com a fauna e flora regional, de modo a possibilitar o colmatar de algumas das principais lacunas diagnosticadas no conhecimento faunístico dos alunos.

ABSTRACT: The problem identification, reduced knowledge of pupils from the Basic Schooling about regional fauna’s diversity, substantiated the carry out of the present empirical study in Natural Sciences scope. In the theoretical coordination of this work, were defined the fallowing aims: the diagnosis of the real knowledge of pupils from the Basic Schooling about regional fauna; the elaboration of an alternative project proposal, based on the perspective of teaching throughout research, contextualised in the interface Science - Technology - Society - Environment, for the resolution of a problemsituation inserted in the everyday of students; the role promotion of the environmental education for the maintenance/preservation and divulgation of regional terminologies about the existing biodiversity in Portugal and others possible traditional local knowledge. The obtained results with the inquiry by survey, allowed to diagnosis the Basic Schooling pupils knowledge about the local fauna and the main methodological strategies used by Natural Sciences teachers in the classroom, when approaching the local fauna’s theme. The activities that appeared in the project proposal were contemplated and organized methodically, having in consideration the empirical data recollected through the inquiry by survey, instrument of collecting data used on the sample of students. Thus, the project proposal was characterised by the valorisation, not only, of the procedural and conceptual processes, but also, by the development of attitudes and values, throughout the possible resolution of problematic situations, that may arise, interconnected with regional fauna and flora, in a way to make possible to complement some of the main gaps of students knowledge about fauna.
