Grelha de caracterização habitacional para pessoas idosas

Abstract

Objetivo: Com o envelhecimento populacional torna-se fundamental proporcionar condições para que as pessoas idosas possam continuar nas suas comunidades, nomeadamente através de uma habitação adequada à situação da pessoa. Nesse sentido, é necessária a criação de instrumentos que facilitem a intervenção prática neste domínio, seja por profissionais da área do envelhecimento, como da habitação. Assim, o estudo consiste em construir um instrumento de caracterização habitacional das pessoas idosas, que permita aos profissionais identificarem as suas necessidades neste âmbito. Metodologia: Este estudo baseou-se em três fases, desenvolvimento do instrumento, validação de face e realização de pré-teste. Na primeira fase, através da revisão da literatura foi possível construir a versão inicial do instrumento, que posteriormente foi alvo de validação de face por parte de 6 experts ligados à área do envelhecimento e/ou habitação. Por último, procedeu-se à execução do pré-teste a 13 residentes, maioritariamente do género feminino, com idades compreendidas entre os 82 e 94 anos. Resultados: A construção de um instrumento constituído por 76 itens referentes a 3 domínios: edifício, habitação e residente. O preenchimento é feito com base na informação fornecida pela pessoa idosa e na observação direta do avaliador, pelo que não poderá ser aplicado a pessoas idosas com limitações cognitivas. O instrumento inicialmente construído foi alvo de modificações, após a validação de face dos experts e realização do pré-teste com a população idosa, consistindo na integração de novos itens (9), eliminação de itens inadequados (1) e reformulação de itens já existentes (7). O instrumento foi considerado válido por todos os experts e compreensível, adequado e pertinente para a população do estudo. Conclusões: Através dos resultados considera-se que a Grelha de Avaliação Habitacional para as Pessoas Idosas é válida e adequada para avaliar a situação habitacional das pessoas idosas do estudo. Este instrumento prático, simples e em português, possibilita a análise de várias dimensões habitacionais importantes para uma avaliação gerontológica adequada. De forma a complementar o presente trabalho, sugere-se que futuros estudos possam criar categorias habitacionais, possibilitando traçar um perfil de prioridades e necessidades habitacionais.

Objective: Due to the population aging, it is necessary to create conditions that assure the elder population to keep on living in their communities, namely through creating and adapting their houses. Therefore, it is necessary to create instruments that facilitate the practical intervention on this field, be for professionals in area of aging or of housing. This study consists in constructing an instrument to characterize the housing conditions for the elderly which allows the professionals to identify their necessities in this specific matter. Methodology: This study had three distinct phases: development of the instrument, face validation and realization of the pre-test. During the first phase, it was possible to construct the initial version of the instrument through the literature review, which was later validated by 6 experts linked to the housing and the aging. Then, we proceeded to the application of the pre-test to a group of 13 inhabitants, mostly female, with ages between 82 and 94 years old. Results: The construction of an instrument constituted by 76 items referring to three fields: building, housing and resident. The filling is made using the information given by the elder person and through direct observation of the evaluator, and is not applied to those with cognitive limitations. The instrument initially built suffered modifications after the Face validation made by the experts and the pre-test realization with the elder population, which resulted in the integration of new items (9), in the elimination of inadequate items (1) and in the reformulation of existing items (7). The instrument was considered to be valid by all the experts and understandable, adequate and pertinent to the studied population. Conclusion: The results prove that the Grelha de Avaliação Habitacional para as Pessoas Idosas is valid and adequate to evaluate the housing conditions of the people in the study. This practical instrument, simple and written in Portuguese, allows the analysis of many housing dimensions that facilitate a gerontological evaluation. In order to enrich the present work, it is suggested that future studies may create housing categories, opening the possibility to trace a profile of priorities and housing necessities.
