comportamentos negativos (e.g., liderança desmobilizadora/desmotivadora), 3
comportamentos negativos (e.g., emoções e sentimentos negativos).
e adoptam comportamentos e atitudes positivas.
This paper is based on the concept of leadership from Cameron (2008). A sample of 58 collaborators from Toyota Caetano Portugal, S.A. in Ovar were inquired using the critical incident technique. From the analysis resulted 4 categories of positive behaviours of the leader (e.g., looks for the improvement of the collaborators), 5 categories of negative behaviours (e.g., demotivating leadership), 3 categories of reaction to positive behaviours (e.g., trust and positive relationship with the leader), and 5 categories of reaction to negative behaviours (e.g., negative emotions and feelings). The results reveal that, when leaders behave positively, this means, to look for the improvement of the collaborators and to respect the needs and characteristics of the collaborators, they give to their followers feelings of well being. The collaborators have trust relations with the leader and the team, become more committed in their tasks and adopt positive behaviours and attitudes. On the other side, leaders that are not clear in the definition of the functions, that have no trust and that give no value to the collaborators work, lead to feelings of sadness, indifference and demotivation of the collaborators. |
