A relação escola-família : estudo num agrupamento vertical de escolas

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objecto de estudo a relação escola-família e visa verificar o modo como as representações sociais que pais/EE e professores têm da escola influenciam as relações que estabelecem entre si. Desta forma, pretende contribuir para a compreensão da problemática que envolve a relação entre pais/EE e professores. Trata-se de um Estudo de Caso, realizado no ano lectivo de 2004/2005, nas escolas públicas de um Agrupamento Vertical de Escolas, localizado na região do Grande Porto, envolvendo famílias e professores de alunos que frequentam o Ensino Básico (do 1º ao 9º ano de escolaridade). Os dados foram obtidos a partir da observação participante, recolha documental e inquérito por questionário. As conclusões apontam no sentido de que ainda se está longe de encontrar um processo e uma dinâmica consistentes de envolvimento de pais e professores na promoção de maior abertura nas relações escola-família e viceversa e que tem sido teorizado nos diversos trabalhos realizados nesta área. A abertura legislativa à participação e envolvimento das famílias verificada, principalmente, a partir da publicação da Lei de Bases do Sistema Educativo (1986), parece ter poucos reflexos no quotidiano escolar, pelo que a transformação desta realidade educativa deve passar pela modificação das práticas e das representações em que as primeiras se alicerçam, tendo presente as perspectivas dos diversos intervenientes com interesses e poderes desiguais.

The subject of this essay is the study of the partnership school-family and its main goal is to verify how the social representations that parents and teachers have from school, influence the relations between them. So, this essay intends to contribute for the comprehension of the question that involves the relation between parents and teachers. This is a Case Study, conducted in the 2004/05 school year, at the public schools from an “Agrupamento Vertical de Escolas”, located in the region of “Grande Porto”, and it were the families and the teachers of the students at the Basic Degree (from the 1º to the 9º year of scholarship) who took part in it. The data were obtained from participant observation, documental research and query. The conclusions point that we are far away from finding a consistent dynamics and process of relating teachers and parents in promoting a bigger opening at the partnership school-family-school, what has already been theorised in many works conducted in this area. It appears that despite the law “Lei de Bases do Sistema Educativo (1986)”, that allows and appeals the family participation and involvement at the school matters, we do not observe much family participation at the school day routine. Therefore, the changing of this educative reality should pass by a mind modification. All actors must analyse their actions and what they think about social representation and its contribution to the partnership school-family-school, always having in mind the perspectives of the different actors with unequal powers and interests.
