Abstract: This review studies corporate scandals in State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) from 1900 to 2022, highlighting their importance and examining their relationship. The study identifies the unique characteristics of SOEs, summarizes existing literature embroiled in scandals, and identifies areas for future research. The study synthesizes and evaluates relevant studies on SOEs, financing, cash flow manipulation, political ties, market credibility, intra-industry spillovers, and corruption-related scandals using a systematic literature review methodology. The study highlights the importance of ongoing scrutiny and identifies critical gaps, emphasizing the need for up-to-date research to inform effective governance practices. The authors provide theoretical insights and potential practical implications for practitioners and policymakers.
