O vírus Influenza - A (H1N1): tradução e glossário

Abstract

Com este projecto, realizado no final do Mestrado em Tradução Especializada, procurou-se descrever e reflectir sobre os processos tradutológico e terminológico que regeram quer o trabalho de tradução científica, quer o de criação de um glossário, efectuados a partir de textos ligados ao Vírus A (H1N1): o de Robert Cohen, intitulado «Grippe A (H1N1)», da revista Archives de Pédiatrie (volume 16, nº 10, de 2009), disponível no site de ScienceDirect; o de Anne-Cécile. Jeannot et al., intitulado «Premiers cas de transmission secondaire en France du nouveau virus grippal d’origine porcine A - H1N1v», da revista Médecines et Maladies Infectieuses (volume 40, nº 1, de 2009), também disponível no site de ScienceDirect; por fim, o de Caroline Tourbe, intitulado «À la une: Grippe A», da revista Science et Vie (nº 1104, de Setembro 2009). À data do início deste projecto (Novembro, 2009), o Vírus A (H1N1) era pouco estudado em Portugal e, consequentemente, muito pouca informação científica estava disponível. Contudo, rapidamente virara pandemia e, por isso, decidimos contribuir para a sua divulgação traduzindo textos e criando um glossário. Este relatório visa, pois, estabelecer um enquadramento científico, quer na área da saúde, quer na área da tradução, e, por tal facto, encontra-se apoiado em pesquisas bibliográficas e conhecimentos anteriormente adquiridos.

The aim of this Project is to describe and to reflect on the translation and terminology process that sustained the scientific translation and the creation of a glossary, of texts on the influenza A virus (H1N1), which are: «Grippe A (H1N1)», written by Robert Cohen, from the Archives de Pédiatrie journal (volume 16, nº10, 2009) available on ScienceDirect website; «Premiers cas de transmission secondaire en France du nouveau virus grippal d’origine porcine A - H1N1v» written by Anne-Cécile. Jeannot et al., from the Médecines et Maladies Infectieuses journal (volume 14, nº1, 2009), also available on ScienceDirect website; and «À la une: Grippe A», written by Caroline Tourbe from the French magazine Science et Vie (nº 1104, September 2009). This project is the concluding assignment of the Masters in Specialized Translation. At the beginning of this project (November 2009), studies in Influenza A virus (H1N1) were scarce in Portugal and, consequently, scientific information was not available. However, it quickly became a pandemic, so, we decided to contribute towards the increase in available information, by translating scientific texts on this issue and by creating a glossary. The aim of this report is to establish a scientific framework both in health and translation that will address the domain of Influenza A virus (H1N1) from the point of view of translation, and it is therefore based on bibliographic research and previously acquired knowledge.
