Variação fonética da lateral alveolar no português Europeu

Abstract

O presente estudo teve como principal objectivo a análise da variação fonética do /l/ do português europeu em função da posição silábica. Para além disso, foram considerados outros factores que condicionam as características fonéticas da lateral, nomeadamente o contexto vocálico adjacente, o género e o próprio falante. Neste sentido, foram recolhidos e analisados, do ponto de vista acústico (F1, F2, F1-F2 e duração), dados relativos a 16 falantes, de ambos os géneros, naturais do distrito de Aveiro. Os resultados obtidos, mais concretamente os valores de F2, apontam para um /l/ velarizado em todas as posições silábicas consideradas no corpus. Ainda que apresentem diferentes graus de velarização, as posições de ataque e coda não são significativamente diferentes entre si. Foi também observado algum efeito de coarticulação motivado pela vogal adjacente. Quanto ao género, verificaram-se algumas diferenças, consequência, sobretudo, de diferenças anatómicas. Finalmente, para além da variabilidade intra-falantes, registou-se alguma variabilidade inter-falantes, sobretudo em posição de ataque.

The main purpose of this study is the analysis of the phonetic variations of the /l/ sound, in European Portuguese language, regarding its syllabic position. In addition, other factors that affect the phonetic properties of the lateral were taken into account, namely the adjacent vocalic context, gender and the speaker itself. Acoustic data with the /l/ sound for sixteen participants from both genders, all from the region of Aveiro, were collected and analyzed (F1, F2, F1-F2 and duration). The results obtained, more precisely the F2 values, indicate a velarized /l/ in all syllabic positions of the corpus. Even if showing different degrees of velarization, the onset and coda positions are not significantly different from each other. It was also observed some coarticulation effects due to the adjacent vowel. Regarding gender, there were verified some differences, as a result of anatomical differences. Finally, there was some variability inter-speakers, mainly in onset position. Some intra-speakers variability was also found.
