A influência da intensidade e da energia da chuva, natural e artificial, sobre a erosão do solo por salpicos

Abstract

O presente trabalho propõe-se relacionar a energia associada à chuva com a erosão do solo por salpicos em áreas recentes ardidas. Com esta finalidade, foi realizado um trabalho experimental, no qual se estudou a relação entre as características da chuva, como precipitação acumulada e energia, com as quantidades de solo movido por salpicos de terrenos florestais, recentemente ardidos e terraçados, situados no concelho de Sever do Vouga, no centro de Portugal. Efectuou-se uma monitorização, aproximadamente semanal, entre Setembro de 2007 a Maio de 2008 de dois tipos de dispositivos de recolha do solo. Estes dispositivos foram instalados em três terrenos com plantações de eucalipto recentemente ardidos e lavrados em terraços. Num dos terrenos o terraceamento tinha sido feito antes de fogo, e nos outros dois o terraceamente foi feito após o incêndio florestal, diferindo no tempo desde o incêndio até ao início do estudo. Esta monitorização, no campo, envolveu, igualmente, a recolha de dados de chuva através de uma estação meteorológica. Ao longo do período do estudo foram realizadas 16 leituras de precipitação e de recolha de solo movido por salpicos, obtendo um total de precipitação de aproximadamente 870 mm e um intervalo de valores de solo movido por salpicos entre 0,08 a 3 g/m2/mm (encontrando-se na ordem de grandeza dos valores obtidos por estudos anteriores elaborados por Terry(1996) e Shakesby et al.(1993)). Os valores entre a precipitação acumulada e energia cinética da chuva e as quantidades de solo movido por salpicos apresentam uma forte correlação.

The present work aims to relate kinetic energy of rain with splash erosion of recent burned areas. With this purpose, an experimental work was carried through, in which had studied the relation between the characteristics of rain, as accumulated precipitation and energy, with the amounts of splash erosion of forest lands, recently burned and terraced areas, situated in district of Sever of the Vouga, in the center of Portugal. The monitoring was made, approximately weekly, between September of 2007 the May of 2008. Two types of splash measurement devices were used, cups and “Terrys”. These devices were installed in three eucalypt plantations in recently burned, all of which involved terraces. At one of the sites, the terraces had been made before fire, whereas at the other two sites the terraces were made after the fire but at different times in relation to the start of this study. Fieldwork further involved the collection of rainfall data from an automatic and various totaliser rain gauges.. During the study period, 16 measurements of precipitation and splash erosion were done., The total precipitation during this period amounted to about 870 mm, whereas the average splash erosion rates varied between 0,08 and 3 g/m2/mm. These values are (of the same order of magnitude of as those obtained by previous splash erosion studies in a rip-ploughed eucalypt stand by Terry (1996) and Shakesby et al. (1993). In the present study, both total rainfall amount and its kinetic energy revealed a strong relation with the average amounts of splash erosion.
