Efeitos do PROsyntax em crianças com perturbação do desenvolvimento da linguagem em idade pré-escolar

Abstract

Enquadramento: Os estudos de intervenção metalinguística em crianças falantes do português europeu (PE), com Perturbação do Desenvolvimento da Linguagem (PDL) com alterações marcadas no domínio sintático são escassos. Esta escassez limita a nossa compreensão acerca dos efeitos da abordagem metalinguística na intervenção junto desta população específica. Objetivos: O presente estudo teve como objetivo principal analisar os efeitos do programa de intervenção metalinguística, PROsyntax Nível 1, em crianças em idade pré-escolar, com PDL. Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo piloto pré-pós. A amostra foi constituída por 7 crianças, em idade pré-escolar, com o diagnóstico de PDL. As crianças foram avaliadas antes e após a intervenção com os instrumentos Teste de Linguagem - Avaliação de Linguagem Pré- Escolar – (TL-ALPE) e Schlichting: Teste de Avaliação da Competência Sintática (Sin:TACS). O PROsyntax N1 foi aplicado a todas as crianças durante 10 sessões individuais com periodicidade semanal. A análise dos efeitos do PROsyntax foi feita através da comparação dos resultados obtidos pré e pós aplicação do programa. Resultados: Os resultados obtidos neste estudo indicam diferenças estatisticamente significativas nas pontuações obtidas nos instrumentos de avaliação pré e pós aplicação do PROsyntax N1. Nas orações completivas, adverbiais e relativas observou-se uma tendência de crescimento, embora apenas nas orações adverbiais foram obtidos valores estatísticos significativos. Conclusão: A presente investigação parece evidenciar que o programa PROsyntax N1, que segue uma abordagem metalinguística, produz efeitos positivos nas competências sintáticas, em crianças com PDL. Contudo, são necessários estudos com amostras mais alargadas para confirmar estes resultados.

Aim: Studies involving metalinguistic approaches conducted with European Portuguese (EP) - speaking children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) with syntactic difficulties are scarce. This limits our understanding on the effects of this intervention approach, in this specific population. Objectives: The main objective of this study was to identify the effects of the metalinguistic intervention program, PROsyntax Level 1, in preschool children with DLD. Methods: A pre-post pilot study was conducted. The sample consisted of 7 preschool-aged children diagnosed with DLD. The children were assessed before and after the intervention using the Language Test Pre- School Language Assessment (TL-ALPE) and the Schlichting: Syntactic Competence Assessment Test (Sin:TACS). The PROsyntax N1 was applied to all children during 10 individual weekly sessions. The analysis of the effects of PROsyntax was performed through the comparison of the results obtained pre and post implementation of the program. Results: The results obtained in this study showed statistically significant differences in the scores obtained at pre and post assessment moments. The results also showed a tendency to increase the mean values of completive, adverbial and relative clauses, but only adverbial clauses showed statistically significant values. Conclusion: The current investigation seems to show that the PROsyntax N1 program (metalinguistic) produces positive effects on the syntactic performance in children with DLD. However, future studies should be conducted with large samples to confirm these results.
