Representações sobre o contexto linguístico cabo-verdiano

Abstract

A oficialização da língua cabo-verdiana implica mudanças profundas na configuração do contexto linguístico nacional, que demandam a produção de um conhecimento fundamentado da problemática linguística nacional assim como a criação de condições objectivas e subjectivas para a implementação das iniciativas que dêem corpo àquela medida de política. Dado o papel que a classe docente desempenha nesse processo, torna-se imprescindível conhecer o que pensam sobre esta problemática. Este trabalho define-se como um estudo de caso sobre as representações de um grupo de docentes do ISE, da área das Línguas Portuguesa e Cabo-verdiana, sobre o contexto linguístico nacional. De natureza essencialmente exploratória, o estudo mostra a necessidade de aprofundar o conhecimento existente sobre esta temática, e de implementar medidas a vários níveis, nomeadamente a nível curricular e da formação docente, para a efectivação do bilinguismo em Cabo Verde, visando uma intervenção fundamentada, na perspectiva de um desenvolvimento humano e social consequente.

The official recognition of Cape Verdean language implies great changes in the configuration of the linguistic context of Cape Verde. These changes require a deep study of the national language, as well as an effort generating the essential conditions for Cape Verdean creole to become effectively the official language of the country. Teachers play an important role in this context. Therefore it is important to identify their conceptions about this political measure. The study here presented concerns the analysis of the conceptions of a group of teachers of the ISE, teaching Portuguese and Cape Verdean language, about the national linguistic context. It is a case study of exploratory nature. It revealed that it is important to further study this subject and to take measures, namely concerning the definition of the national curriculum and teacher training, in order to promote a well-founded intervention, leading to development both at individual and social level.
