A distribuição do serviço docente: das intenções às práticas

Abstract

A distribuição de serviço docente é uma tarefa muito difícil, mas fundamental para o funcionamento da escola. É preciso encontrar o ponto de equilíbrio entre as necessidades específicas dos alunos e as competências próprias dos professores, com objectivo de satisfazer os interesses de uns e de outros. A justiça percebida pelos docentes revela-se decisiva para um trabalho colaborativo indispensável ao cabal cumprimento da missão da escola. A análise de um caso concreto – a Escola da Latitude – mostrou o empenho dos seus decisores na observância das normas legais pré-estabelecidas, ao mesmo tempo que respeitavam as orientações pedagógicas, tendo em atenção os condicionalismos próprios da sua escola.

Assigning duties to teaching staff is a very difficult, as well as paramount, for the functioning of a school. It is necessary to find the balance point between the students’ specific necessities and the teachers’ personal skills, so that everyone’s interests and expectations may be met. The sense of justice perceived by the teaching staff is revealed as being of the essence for collaborative work, which is vital to the fulfillment of the mission of the school. The analysis of an actual case – “Escola da Latitude” (Latitude School) – has shown the commitment of its decision-makers to the observance of preestablished legal norms, while simultaneously respecting the pedagogical orientations and bearing in mind the specific characteristics and constrictions of their school.
