The ceramic industry is characterized by high energy consumption, leading to a constant search for energy efficient and environmentally sustainable measures. Thus, the present document is the result of this environmental and financial concern of the sector, of the company Grestel – Produtos Cerâmicos S.A., producer of utilitarian and decorative ceramics in fine stoneware. The work carried out consisted of the energy study of the company's 3rd manufacturing unit with the objective of implementing energy efficiency measures throughout the production process. To fulfill the stipulated objective, a bibliographic analysis of energy efficiency measures applied to the industry and specifically to the ceramic sector was carried out. An analysis was carried out of the company's production process and its energy consumption, in order to assess possible measures to be applied. The energy efficiency measures applied in the company prior to the internship were studied to assess their impact on energy consumption. The study of the literature and the analysis carried out at the manufacturing unit culminated in the study of several measures, being them, the optimization of the load baked in the tunnel oven, a thermographic analysis, the energetic feasibility of the implementation of an intermittent oven, the implementation of an energy management, the replacement of current lighting (fluorescent) with more efficient lighting (LED), the addition of the installed power in photovoltaic panels to the existing ones and, finally, the use of the cooling gases from the tunnel oven for the dryer of the automatic salad bowls. The suggestions presented would result in a decrease in the company's energy consumption of 5% of natural gas and 2% of electricity, and consequently would make the company more sustainable, as it would stop emitting about 674 tCO2e annually. |
