Contributos do Mobile Learning para as práticas educativas no ensino superior: o caso na Universidade de Aveiro

Abstract

As evoluções tecnológicas têm feito parte do desenvolvimento social e têm tido um papel importante em diversas áreas, nomeadamente na educação, facilitando o acesso à informação, e revolucionando a forma como as pessoas interagem entre si. A evolução dos dispositivos móveis e a sua elevada utilização tem dado espaço à inserção de novas práticas educativas no processo de ensino e aprendizagem. O m-learning, de forma consensual entre vários autores, surge como uma abordagem caraterizada pelo uso de tecnologias móveis em qualquer momento e em qualquer lugar, permitindo ampliar a forma como se ensina e aprende. Esta investigação concentra-se no objetivo de compreender como é que o m-learning contribui para as práticas educativas, usando o contexto da Universidade de Aveiro como o caso de estudo. A natureza desta investigação é exploratória e foi realizada através de uma abordagem mista, sendo utilizados técnicas e instrumentos de recolha de dados tanto quantitativos como qualitativos, como o inquérito por questionário e o inquérito por entrevista, respetivamente. Os resultados decorrentes da investigação, sugerem a existência de contributos do mobile learning para as práticas educativas no ensino superior, na Universidade de Aveiro. Esses contributos estão relacionados com o facto do m-learning gerar um ambiente mais descontraído na sala de aula, incutir mais dinâmica às práticas educativas, permitir a obtenção de feedback dos estudantes de forma imediata e permitir obter informações em tempo real das suas dificuldades e daquilo que são os seus conhecimentos acerca dos conteúdos programáticos lecionados. Neste contexto, espera-se que os resultados e os contributos emergentes desta investigação abram novos horizontes de pesquisa e que esta investigação possa servir de estudo-piloto para outras investigações que abordem esta temática.

Technological developments have been part of social development and have played an important role in several areas, like on education, facilitating the access to information, and revolutionizing the way that people interact with each other. The evolution of mobile devices and their high use has given a way to the insertion of new educational practices in the teaching and learning process. The consensus among several authors is that m-learning is an approach characterized by the use of mobile technologies at any time and in any place, allowing to expand the way we teach and learn. This research focuses on the objective of understanding how m-learning contributes to educational practices, using the context of the University of Aveiro as the case study. The nature of this research is exploratory and was conducted through a mixed approach, using both quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques and instruments, such as the questionnaire survey and the interview survey, respectively. The results of the research suggest the existence of mobile learning contributions to the educational practices in higher education at the University of Aveiro. These contributions are related to the fact that m-learning generates a more relaxed atmosphere in the classroom, instils more dynamics to the educational practices, allows immediate feedback from students and provides real-time information about their difficulties and their knowledge about the taught contents. In this context, it is expected that the results and emerging contributions of this research will open new research horizons and that this research may serve as a pilot study for other investigations that address this theme.
