Abstract: | Enquadramento: A dor lombar é a principal causa mundial de incapacidade e
entraram no estudo.
sentado. Background: Low back pain is the leading worldwide cause of disability representing a serious public health problem as a result of morbidity and their associated economic costs. Some studies show that high-intensity aerobic exercise is effective in producing hypoalgesia. However, the immediate effects of an aerobic exercise session remain poorly explored, as well as the influence of exercise intensity on hypoalgesia. Objective: Compare the acute hypoalgesic effect of an aerobic exercise session at different intensities in individuals with chronic non-specific low back pain. Methodology: Participants with chronic nonspecific low back pain were randomly assigned to three groups: (I) control group, (II) moderate intensity exercise group, and (III) high intensity exercise group. In both interventions groups, participants were subjected to an aerobic exercise session lasting 15 minutes. The control group was not subjected to any type of intervention and had a rest time period. The intensity of low back pain and the mechanical pressure pain threshold (in the lumbar region and in the dominant hand) were evaluated before and after the intervention. Results: A total of 83 participants, divided by the three groups, entered the study. No statistically significant interaction was observed between the time factor for pain intensity or pressure pain threshold (р>0.05). A significant effect of time was found for the pressure pain threshold in the lumbar region (р<0.05). Conclusion: A moderate or high intensity aerobic exercise session lasting 15 minutes does not alter the intensity of low back pain or the mechanical pressure pain threshold in the dominant hand and increases the pressure pain threshold in the lumbar region identically to each other and similar to sitting 30 minutes. |
