Semântica dos verbos de perceção em português e inglês: uma análise contrastiva em PLE

Abstract

O objetivo do presente trabalho é estudar e analisar a semântica dos verbos de perceção em português e inglês, bem como propor uma análise contrastiva entre as dua línguas utilizando conceitos da análise componencial e da estrutura argumental para o tratamento destes verbos. A intenção deste trabalho é resumir as diferenças semânticas entre os verbos de perceção em inglês e português e as dificuldades para os falantes de inglês em aprender e traduzir de e para português. Através do lançamento de um inquérito, estudarse- ão as principais dificuldades sentidas por falantes anglófonos de língua portuguesa, associadas ao fenómeno de interferência linguística na aprendizagem e tradução deste tópico gramatical. Para ajudar os falantes de inglês a estudar e traduzir melhor os verbos de perceção, serão propostas algumas soluções para resolver os problemas encontrados. A primeira parte do estudo é a parte teórica, em que a semântica dos verbos de perceção será analisada; a segunda é a parte prática, em que será elaborado e lançado um questionário destinado a falantes de inglês que estejam a estudar português ou trabalhar como tradutores de inglês e português; a terceira parte é a conclusão do estudo, onde serão dadas sugestões didáticas para melhorar o processo de ensino-aprendizagem e tradução dos verbos de perceção.

The aim of the present work is to study and analyse the semantics of the verbs of perception in Portuguese and English, as well as propose a contrastive analysis between the two languages, using theories of componential analysis and the structural argument for the treatment of verbs. The intention of this work is to summarize the semantic difference between the verbs of perception in English and Portuguese and the difficulties for English speakers in learning and translating from and to Portuguese. Through the launch of a survey, the main difficulties experienced by English-speaking Portuguese speakers associated with the phenomenon of linguistic interference in the learning and translation of this grammatical topic will be studied. To help English speakers to better study and translate perception verbs, some solutions to the problems encountered will be proposed. The study will have three parts, the first is the theoretical part, which the semantics of the perception verbs will be analysed, the second is the practical part, where a questionnaire will be launched to English speakers who are either studying Portuguese or working as an English- Portuguese translator, third part is the conclusion of the study, didactic suggestions will be given to improve the teaching learning and translation process of the perception verbs.
