A presente dissertação visa a explorar a gastrodiplomacia
Gastrodiplomacy, based on the theories of soft power, public diplomacy and nation branding, has been a highly discussed topic in recent years and many countries have launched their gastrodiplomatic campaign abroad. China, a country rich in gastronomy, will not miss this new trend either. By taking advantage of major international events, domestic or unofficial media etc., the country is also making gastrodiplomatic attempts. This dissertation aims to explore Chinese gastrodiplomacy in Portugal, especially, the role of restaurants and supermarkets, since these are places where most of the Portuguese public can have contact with Chinese gastronomy and culture. |
