Cristãos-novos nas Minas Gerais: colonização, religiosidade e trajetórias sefarditas na América portuguesa durante o ciclo do ouro

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a presença dos cristãos-novos nas Minas Gerais no século xviii, durante o ciclo do ouro. Busca compreender o processo de integração e inserção social dos neoconversos e o papel que desempenharam na estruturação da região. Da mesma forma, fazer um balanço da produção historiográfica sobre a presença dos cristãos-novos e da ação inquisitorial na região. Por último, discutir as formas de resistência judaica e a perseguição que sofreram do Santo Ofício.

This paper aims to analyze the presence of New Christians in Minas Gerais in the 18th century, during the gold cycle. It seeks to understand the process of integration and social insertion of conversos and the role they played in structuring the region. Likewise, take stock of historiographical production on the presence of New Christians and inquisitorial action in the region. Finally, it discusses the forms of Jewish resistance and the persecution they suffered from the Holy Office.
