O estudo empírico ocorreu no contexto
The current study was developed from the understanding of educating as a political act and the humanizing essence as the heart of the educational process. Its main goal is comprehending how to build a language teacher training curriculum for social justice. To meet this objective, two types of study were developed, a bibliographic and an empirical investigation. This paper is constituted of two parts. The first part presents a theoretical foundation, and the second is dedicated to the presentation of the investigation context, the empirical research methodological journey, the data analysis, and the discussion of the findings. The investigation is based on approaches committed with a professional and human instruction of teachers from theoretical emancipatory perspectives on education. It is also based on decolonial thinking, critical discourse studies and principles of social justice, such as recognition and participation. The empirical study was developed in the context of a Portuguese language teachers’ training inside the interior of the Amazon, Pará, Brazil. It is a study with an interpretive paradigm and a qualitative nature, with a methodology supported by a case study and participant research, with strategies of Ethnomethodology. The corpus of the study was created from a documentary analysis, individual interviews, application of questionnaires and field notes. Content analysis and critical discourse analysis were the techniques used to analyze the data collected in the investigation. Based on the results, it is highlighted that there is sufficient reasoning for the construction of a consistent and theoretical approach for a language teacher instruction for social justice; the ability of relating the language concepts, the notions of social justice, and the context of struggles help to explain the final goals of promoting justice based on communicative practices; and that it is necessary questioning the rationalities of the curricula that legitimize the language training. Concluding, to foster a language teacher training curriculum committed to the promotion of social justice, it may need to review the epistemological bases supporting the training practice; to create more space for the discursive language perspective; and to involve the undergraduate students in research and in learning experiences about social justice in teaching training. |
