A identidade
In recent decades there has been a growing interest in the sociocultural changes occurring in society facing globalization. With the birth of a new, dynamic, and connected age, new concerns for future generations are emerging. In this context, this dissertation seeks to understand what influence globalization has had and is having on cultural identity in human societies, and, in particular, the new generations that are already born into this connected and open world. Cultural identity is an aspect that develops depending on the environment in which a person is inserted; family, school, experiences, language, traditions, these are just some of the aspects that have an impact on cultural identity. The study presented here, has as its main objective the theoretical exploration of the concepts of globalization and cultural identity and the ambiguous relationship between them, as well as other themes that arise in association with them and that contribute to their understanding. Thus, in addition to the core concepts, topics such as the presence of the media as a driver of globalization and the consequences of its influence, the relationship between globalization, Americanization, and cultural imperialism, and, finally, the implications of globalization on new generations - specifically Generation Z - are addressed. By the means of a survey of theoretical perspectives of several renowned authors in the area, an analytical approach was adopted in order to interpret the different perceptions that exist in the literature on the subject. In summary, we can conclude with this study that the concepts of globalization and cultural identity are difficult to define in one way only, due to their amplitude and the influence they have in different areas of study. However, we can, yes, identify that there is an emerging sociocultural influence generated by globalization towards modern societies. Behavioural changes in society after the end of the Cold War, identified as the globalization boom, have introduced a new phase of uncertainty and transformation and a more globally oriented model of society. |
