ABSTRACT: The quantification of metallic elements in biodiesel is of great importance, because the presence of metals, even in low concentrations (μg/g) it can affect the acting of the motors, to reduce the stability of the biodiesel, to cause corrosion problems, poisoning of catalysts and to indicate possible contaminations during the transportation. Due to it production process, some metals as sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium can be present in the biodiesel samples and the quantitative analysis of this elements in the fuels is of fundamental importance, because they can cause corrosion and blockages in motors, besides causing risk the human health. Other elements as aluminium, copper, lead, zinc, silicon and vanadium, are analysed for they be metallic elements that can cause serious problems of health, when in concentration discharges in the body of living beings. As for the phosphorus, this can affect the properties of the fuel and to form composed undesirable that they damage the motor of the vehicles. The technique of inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) it was used as method of biodiesel analysis due to their excellent capacities of analysis multi-elementary, high detection power, high precision and small time of analysis. This work consists of the implementation and validation of the analysis of the metals in biodiesel samples for ICP-OES. | por |
