subsidiárias, a COFCO International.
importantes tarefas administrativas a nível global.
China has gradually been investing heavily in the internationalization of its country, its currency, its culture, and its national companies. The internationalization of national companies, especially state-owned ones, are strongly associated with strategic industries and important natural resources for their population. This dissertation aims to analyze the internationalization strategy of COFCO, a Chinese state multinational and giving as an analysis priority, one of its subsidiaries, COFCO International. This subsidiary has as its main business area the trading of agri-food products of high relevance to China such as soybeans, corn, sugar, coffee, and cotton, with most of it being produced in South America. These products, in addition to being fundamental to the daily life of Chinese society, a society with an increasing purchasing power and diversified diet, are also important in a global panorama. By securing the supply chain, China increases its global influence and reputation. In this dissertation is also established a mandatory bridge between Portugal and China, because COFCO International has established in Matosinhos a Center of Excellence responsible for important administrative tasks globally. Finally, and as a final analysis, we consider COFCO to be a strategic piece to combat food insecurity in China, a topic of national security. Nevertheless, the multinational does not neglect its main business, trading on a global scale in the most varied markets and with the most diverse clients. |
