TRAMA: design em diálogo com as técnicas artesanais de Viseu

Abstract

A história que quero contar: adquirir novas visões e utilidades, talvez seja a evolução que o artesanato precisa para pertencer à contemporaneidade. Numa sociedade onde as novas tecnologias estão a tornar-se cada vez mais importantes, isso pode tornar-se um obstáculo ao entendimento do que fomos e do que somos. Este projeto responde à necessidade de intervenção nas técnicas artesanais representativas de Viseu, Portugal. TRAMA, pretende criar uma série de produtos que, valorizando o passado e desenhando o futuro através de novos contextos de uso, ganham um maior foco e uma intervenção mais profunda num momento específico do que é o artesanato de Viseu. O objetivo é trabalhar o ambiente em que os produtos estarão inseridos, através da passagem da luz e da que é refletida por eles. Criar um ambiente que seja definido pela luz, e tornar a textura e o tecido do produto reconhecido como uma parte importante do espaço. Para cada técnica, foram desenvolvidas várias peças. Inicialmente tomaram parte num mostruário de texturas que estes artesãos interpretaram, e num segundo momento foram repensadas através do design o que fará surgir novas e singulares formas tridimensionais.

This is the story I want to tell: acquiring new visions and utilities, may be the evolution that the craft needs to belong to contemporary times. With in a society where new technologies are becoming more important, it’s also believed that it can be a block to perceive everything we were and everything we are nowadays. This project responds to the need for intervention in the representative craft techniques from Viseu, Portugal. TRAMA intends to create a series of products, describing the past and valuing the future through new uses, mean a greater focus and deeper intervention in a specic moment of Viseu’s handicraft. The goal is to work the environment where products will be inserted, through the passage of light and what is reflected by them. Create an environment that is defined by the light, and make the texture and fabric of the product recognized as an important part of space. For each technique, several pieces were developed. Initially they took part in a showcase of textures that these artisans interpreted, and in a second moment they were rethought through design which will bring about new and unique three-dimensional shapes.
