Dança em formação: um estudo comparativo entre Portugal e Brasil

Abstract

O presente trabalho propõe-se investigar a situação da dança em Portugal por comparação com o Brasil em especial no que diz respeito ao ensino superior em dança e à inserção no mercado de trabalho. Entende-se que é a partir da do respetivo contexto histórico que as outras facetas se desenvolvem, pelo que se apresenta um breve histórico que vai desde as primeiras evidências da dança (que no Brasil ocorrem tardiamente com os Ballets Russes enquanto Portugal sempre recebeu companhias e bailarinos/coreógrafos internacionais) até os dias de hoje. Analisam-se depois as diferenças entre o ensino superior dos dois países desde a nomenclatura ao formato do ensino; e como a formação superior influencia ou não a inserção no mercado de trabalho da dança, segundo opiniões dos próprios profissionais da área. Percebe-se com este estudo que a dança vem em progresso ascendente, mesmo que seu estatuto artístico continue desvalorizado criando obstáculos ainda hoje para os profissionais da dança. Assiste-se igualmente ao reconhecimento da dança enquanto área de conhecimento acadêmico, possibilitando estudos como este.

This research aims to investigate the present situation of dance in Portugal in comparison with Brazil, especially in regard to how dance is taught in higher education and opportunities within the job market. It is understood that it is from the respective historical contexts of each country that the other facets develop, so it will be presented a brief history that goes from the first evidences of dance (which in Brazil happened late with the Russian Ballets while Portugal had received companies and international dancers / choreographers for many years before) up to the present day. The differences between higher education in the two countries from technical terms to format and style of education are analyzed; and how higher education influences, or not, the ability to enter the dance job market, according to the opinions of the professionals within the area. It is clear from this study that dance is in ascension, even though its artistic status remains undervalued, creating obstacles for dance professionals today. There is also the recognition of dance as an area of academic knowledge, enabling studies such as this.
