Outro. Deste modo, considerámos importante diagnosticar as
português do Brasil.
Outro. This report is the result of a study developed in the scientific area of Language Didactics, focused in the issue of representations concerning languages in the English class of primary schools. In an increasingly multicultural and multilingual society, we find important, in the context of Language Didatics, to study the students’ representations of languages. That research has shown that representations can condition the learners’ attitudes and motivation towards the learning of a language and towards the contact with the Other. Thus, we found important to diagnose the representations of the students of a 4th grade class (of the 1.º CEB) towards languages, in order to develop, later, a pedagogical didactic project, with the purpose of working some of the representations shown, namely regarding the following languages: English, Spanish, Chinese and Portuguese of Brazil. To diagnose the representations, we used a survey and the Linguistic Biography of the students as instruments of data collection. Regarding the treatment of the data collected, we conducted a content analysis based on categories of analysis already validated in other studies. Results have shown that students perceive languages essentially as affective objects and teaching-learning, showing different representations concerning each language: English is mainly seen as “funny” and “cool”, but also as “difficult”; Spanish is more perceived as a “beautiful”, “funny” and “easy” language, but also as “difficult” and “boring”; Chinese is both seen as “funny” and as “awful” and “difficult”. The students show also some gaps in terms of linguistic culture, identifying “Brazilian” as a language. After having identified and analysed the representations of the students about languages, we conceived a project of pedagogical didactic intervention that aimed (de)constructing some of the representations shown and developing in the students the interest and curiosity towards the Other. |
