A matemática e a música: uma experiência de ensino no 1º Ciclo do Ensino Básico

Abstract

Atualmente, estamos perante uma sociedade em que as artes estão bastante presentes e cada vez são mais divulgadas, como é o caso da Música. Mesmo antes do nascimento, o ser humano vive num mundo sonoro, que o vai acompanhar para o resto da sua vida. No contexto educativo, a educação musical ainda não é explorada na sua plenitude, uma vez que os docentes assumem que para tal têm de ter conhecimentos musicais específicos. No entanto, tal não é necessário pois a Música vai muito além de cantar ou tocar um instrumento. Música é muito mais do que uma arte e, por isso, desenvolve no ser humano competências muito diversas. Assim, esta deve estar contemplada em todos os contextos da vida da criança – escolar e não escolar – tal como a Matemática, que é imprescindível para o nosso quotidiano. Nesta ótica, surge o presente estudo que tem por base a relação entre Matemática e Música no 1.º Ciclo do Ensino Básico, mais concretamente o contributo de uma experiência de ensino entre estas duas áreas para a aprendizagem dos alunos. Pretende-se dar resposta à seguinte questão de investigação: Qual o contributo da implementação de tarefas envolvendo a Matemática e a Música na aprendizagem de alunos do 2.º ano do 1.º CEB? Para tal, desenvolveuse um estudo, no 2.º semestre da Prática Pedagógica Supervisionada, assente no paradigma interpretativo, de natureza qualitativa e com uma tipologia de estudo de caso. Como instrumentos de recolha de dados foram utilizados o Diário do Investigador e as fichas de registo dos alunos. Para a análise dos dados recolhidos recorreu-se à técnica de análise de conteúdo. Posteriormente à implementação das tarefas, a análise dos dados e os resultados obtidos sugerem que estas potenciaram a aprendizagem da Música e da Matemática nos alunos. As investigações desenvolvidas nesta área possibilitam à comunidade educativa aperfeiçoar as tarefas disponibilizadas, bem como implementálas em vários contextos educativos, de forma a potenciar aprendizagens significativas a todos os alunos.

Nowadays, we are facing a society in which the arts are very present and are increasingly publicized, as is the case with Music. Even before birth, the human being lives in a world of sound, which will accompany him for the rest of his life. In the educational context, musical education is not yet explored in its fullness, since teachers assume that they have to have specific musical knowledge to do so. However, this is not necessary because music goes far beyond singing or playing an instrument. Music is much more than an art and therefore develops in the human being very diverse skills. Thus, it should be contemplated in all contexts of the child's life – school and non-school – such as Mathematics, which is indispensable for our daily lives. From this perspective, the present study is based on the relationship between Mathematics and Music in the 1st Cycle of Basic Education (CBE), more specifically the contribution of a teaching experience between these two areas to the students’ learning. It is intented to give an answer to the following research question: What is the contribution of the implementation of tasks involving Mathematics and Music in the learning of 2nd year students of the 1st CBE? For this, a study was developed, in the 2nd semester of supervised pedagogical practice, based on the interpretative paradigm, of a qualitative nature and with a typology of case study. The Diary of Investigator and student registration records were used as data collection instruments. Content analysis technique was used for the analysis of the collected data. After the tasks implementation, the data analysis and the results obtained suggest that these enhanced the students’ learning of Music and Mathematics. The investigations developed in this area enable the educational community to improve the tasks available, as well as implement them in various educational contexts, in order to enhance meaningful learning for all students.
