Throughout the ages, man has sought to improve his health and well-being. One of the practices used was the therapeutic use of the thermal waters, in the treatment / attenuation of some diseases. However, there is still little documentation that tells whether these waters actually help treat some pathologies. The hydrochemical characterization of the thermal waters is important to solve / answer some doubts. With the objective of trying to understand the effect of H2S on human health and to evaluate the variations that this gas suffers, from the catchment area to the thermal treatment areas. In this Stage it was selected three thermal spas located in Guarda district namely the Cró, Manteigas and Longroiva thermal Spas. Samples were collected in the three ranks and later analyzed in the laboratory. The potentiometric method was used for the quantitative determination of H2S concentration. For the analysis of the mineralogical part, Ion Chromatography (IC) and Inductive Plasma Coupled Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) were used. The study concluded that H2S is present in these waters in different concentrations. Regarding the H2S analysis, with this work it was possible to describe the importance of sampling, as well as the role of the antioxidant buffer and the selective electrode. On the other hand, it was possible to verify that the waters of the different wells maintain their physical-chemical characteristics. The waters present sodium bicarbonate hydrogeochemical facies. Some elements such as As, Ba, F, Li, W and Zn allowed to distinguishing between them.Special attention must be given to Li which should merit additional studies given the therapeutic characteristics of this element. This internship allowed us to know different analytical techniques that would otherwise not have been possible to contact them. The different therapies used in the baths, as well as all the tourism that is generated with the use of the thermal waters, was one of the realities that this Stage made possible to discover.pt_PT
