Semiótica da cultura lituana nas páginas de um livro-álbum

Abstract

Para o presente estudo partiu-se do pressuposto de que é possível interligar a área da literatura infantil com a semiótica cultural. Posteriormente à contextualização teórica do tema, e da sistematização das reflexões de estudiosos, foi aplicada a teoria lotmaniana da semiosfera a um texto de literatura infantil lituana e elaborado um trabalho de campo, com o objetivo de identificar diferenças entre as perceções dos leitores influenciadas pelos seus diferentes meios culturais. Como corpus de estudo foi escolhido o livro-álbum lituano Lapė yra laimė (A felicidade é uma raposa), escrito por Evelina Daciutė e ilustrado por Aušra Kiudulaitė. Tendo identificado de forma explícita as mensagens visuais e verbais com conotação cultural lituana e universal no corpus, testámos na prática, sob formato de entrevistas, o reconhecimento dos signos culturais em dois grupos (portugueses e lituanos), um público-alvo com faixas etárias diferentes (crianças e adultos). A análise das respetivas respostas revelou que, para ser decifrado o simbolismo visual presente no livro-álbum, é exigida uma leitura atenta e um leitor preparado.

The present study was based on the assumption that it is possible to connect the field of study of children's literature with cultural semiotics. After the contextualization and systematization of the theoretical reflections of scholars, Lotman’s theory of the semiosphere was applied to a text of Lithuanian children's literature and the field work was done, aiming to identify the differences between the perceptions of the readers, under the influence of their different cultural backgrounds. The chosen corpus of the study was the Lithuanian children’s picturebook Lapė yra laimė (Happiness is a fox, literally translated) written by Evelina Daciutė and illustrated by Aušra Kiudulaitė. Having explicitly identified the visual and verbal messages with Lithuanian and world cultural connotations in the corpus, we tested in practice, in the form of interviews, the recognition of cultural signs on two groups (Portuguese and Lithuanian), a target audience with different age range (children and adults). The analysis of the corresponding answers proved that in order to decode the visual symbolism of the picturebook, a careful reading and a prepared reader is required.
