Silêncio e retenção da informação no romance Sem coração, de Miguel Miranda

Abstract

O presente trabalho propõe-se analisar as formas de silêncio no romance policial Sem Coração. Considerando-se que, hoje em dia, não existem muitos estudos sobre esta questão aplicada ao romance policial, esta dissertação selecionou, como objeto de investigação, uma das obras de Miguel Miranda, escritor português contemporâneo que muito se tem dedicado à escrita do romance policial. A elaboração deste trabalho tem, por isso, também como objetivo incentivar outros alunos e leitores a explorarem mais o tema. Esta dissertação, a partir da análise do romance policial, explora a conformação do silêncio no romance selecionado segundo três perspetivas complementares: a perspetiva narrativa, discursiva e linguística. Verificaremos ainda, ao longo deste estudo, que o silêncio no romance Sem Coração pode manifestar-se de várias formas: através do narrador de primeira pessoa, da estrutura narrativa, da presença ou ausência das informações no diálogo entre as personagens, da mudança de tópico, da estruturação do léxico, entre outros.

The present work proposes to analyze the forms of silence in the detective novel Sem Coração. Considering that, today, there are not many studies on this issue applied to detective novels, this thesis selected one of the works of Miguel Miranda, the contemporary portuguese writer who has been dedicated to writing detective novels. The elaboration of this work, therefore, aims to encourage other students and readers to explore the theme further. This dissertation, based on the analysis of the detective novel, explores the conformation of silence in the selected novel from three complementary perspectives: narrative, discursive and linguistic perspectives. We will also verify, throughout this study, that silence in the novel Sem Coração can be manifested in various ways: the first-person narrator, the narrative structure, the ignorance of quantity and quality of information in dialogue, the change of topic, the application of special vocabulary and sentence structure and so on.
