Um olhar das crianças ciganas sobre a escola: da Quinta do Simão para o mundo

Abstract

O primeiro objetivo deste trabalho consistiu em estabelecer o diálogo com um grupo de crianças ciganas, do primeiro ciclo, que estudam na Escola Básica Quinta do Simão, em Esgueira, distrito de Aveiro, Portugal. E, a partir disto, construímos exercícios de empoderamento, em especial na conscientização e no combate à exclusão e ao preconceito. Deste modo, optamos por uma metodologia de investigação-ação participativa onde as crianças estiveram participando ativamente de todo o projeto. Assim, utilizamos, entre outros, o Photovoice, uma metodologia onde os participantes são encorajados a refletir sobre si mesmos e a comunidade onde estão inseridos. Devemos destacar que este projeto trabalhou também com expressões artísticas, jogos e brincadeiras, como auxiliares na construção de vínculos entre os participantes. Além disto, estas atividades foram fontes de expressão, registro e criatividade para este trabalho. Através desta iniciativa, percebemos um crescimento da conscientização nas crianças ciganas participantes, através de posturas assertivas na reivindicação de Direitos e combate às injustiças cotidianas, observadas na fase final deste projeto

The first objective of this work was to establish the dialogue with a group of gypsy children, of the first cycle, who study in the elementary School Quinta do Simão, in Esgueira, district of Aveiro, Portugal. And, from this, we built empowerment exercises, especially in the awareness and in the fight against exclusion and prejudice. In this way, we opted for a participatory research-action methodology where the children were actively participating in the whole project. Thus, we use, among others, Photovoice, a methodology where participants are encouraged to reflect on themselves and the community where they are inserted. It should be noted that this project also worked with artistic expressions, sports and games, as aids in building links between participants. In addition, these activities were sources of expression, registration and creativity for this work. Through this initiative, we see an increase in awareness among participating Gypsy children, through assertive positions in the claiming of Rights and the fight against daily injustices, observed in the final phase of this project
